+TV4E: Interactive Television as a support to information broadcast about social services for seniors aims to promote the info-inclusion of Portuguese seniors through the transmission of informative contents related to social and public services. This is an interactive television platform which automatically allows the enrichment of television experience with the integration of social contents considering the user’s profile. It considers its target audience's characteristics, needs and expectations in the use of public and social services such as financial issues, social security and social support services.

Components

+TV4E iTV platform


The platform runs on set-top-boxes and interpolates informative video spots with the television content. The system verifies if there is new informative content available, generating new video spots which are then injected into the linear television transmission. Meanwhile, the regular TV broadcast is locally paused and resumed after the video ends, to avoid missing television content.

The informative videos are categorized in seven informative areas, distinguished by their own icon, theme color and name.

Automated Video Engine


Automated generation of audiovisual contents based on a set of web feeds with support of web semantic search methods, a text-to-speech engine and an AV encoding tool.

The dashboard is a data analysis tool aiming to provide the research team with quality control strategies over the created informative videos and to select reliable sources of information to each user.

Mobile App


The mobile app emerges as an extension to the iTV platform, offering another possibility to access the platform's informative contents in a simple and easy way. It features the user's video library as well as recommended content.
